  • :rotfl: After following all the advice from MSE I am very pleased to declare a victory. Initially I was in band f now after telecon and visit by local valuation officer I am in band e. This has resulted in a rebate of £2637.65p and a saving of £307.19p on 2008/09 charges. the rebate covers period Nov 1995 to present

    I followed his advice but didn't think I'd be successful as I didn't fall into any of the 10 reasons for appealing - I basically wrote a complaining letter as, like everyone else, our house was listed in a different band to similar properties on our street. About 4 weeks later, after receiving an acknowledgement and stating they may visit to check the property, I received a cheque and advice on our rebanding. So thanks to Martin and to Waltham Forest council for this great outcome!
  • Local Borough Council: South Kesteven, Linc's
    Council Tax Band Before: E
    Council Tax Band After: D

    Amount refunded: £1185

    Spoke to a friend whom lived in an identical house on the same estate his house was in band D, spent a couple of hours online researching the other 6 identical houses to ours on the estate to find 5 in band D & 3 of us in E. I contacted the council and within 4 weeks got a result, nice one Martin cheers!!!
  • Hi I have been fighting my council for 14yrs to reband my home from c to b like everyone elses in the street, after taking advice from here they have finaly done it great, I wonder if they will give me a refund lol I dont think so
  • I followed your advice - and immediately got reclassified one Band lower. The point I wish to pass on is that no one actually visited from the District Valuation Office - so they must have just driven past as they did in the 'nineties, if at all !
    The Notice I received said that the Council would send me a revised bill, so I don't know how much I have saved yet. I'm content to wait....

  • :jThank you Martin:money::A
    Here's A success story. After checking out the information I found that 1 bungalow in our close of 12 identical properties was in Band A and all the rest were in band B, I challenged this and after1 month and an out of time refusal (which I challenged) WE WON all 11 properties were re banded into A back dated to 1996.When the original A band was set
    This has resulted in our neighbour's and ourselves receiving rebates of up to £1000 each
    fantastic for all.

  • Not quite sure if I am submitting this at the correct place, apologies if wrong.
    Applied to St.Helens, Merseyside to have my council tax reappraised.
    I was on Band D.
    The young lady I spoke to was vey helpful and came out the next day to look at the property. I explained I had discovered (using Martin's instructions) that my two neighbours were Band C since 1993 and that our properties were identical.
    Three days later we went on holiday and when we returned found a cheque for £1667.00 and notification that we are now Band C.
    Thank you very much Martin. As pensioners every penny helps.:j
