Ideas for earning £20 whilst on INCOME SUPPORT

I am in need of some inspiration and ideas!

I am lone parent to a young toddler, don't live close to family and therefore have extremely limited childminding support. I am due to begin a part time distance learning degree this September to further my career.

IN THE MEANTIME....

I have been trying to think of ideas how I can top up my income support - I am allowed to earn a maximum of £20 before it will affect income support.

I have been looking for something which will allow me to keep my daughter with me also.

Has anyone any knowledge of this , and any ideas?!

It seems to be very difficult to find a job for 1-3 hours per week, and one which I can bring my daughter along... am I being unrealistic?

I welcome any advice anyone can give.

Thank you in advance.

Ironing; sewing or anything you can do in the evening. Look at the 'up your income' board for other ideas. Our cleaner use to bring her child with her; I don't suppose we were the only ones that allowed that.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

  • Hi I was in a very similar situation to you when my daughter was a toddler. I also did Avon as suggested above I took her with me in her pushchair when posting books. No one seemed to mind when i had her with me when handing out orders etc. I am doing surveys online atm I dont think it would bring in £20 a week but it may be a bit extra for you.

I used to do Avon, and home help for the elderly, I checked first that it was ok to bring my kids along though.

Newspaper or leaflet delivery, or fast food delivery, or baby sitting?

How about surveys , join us at the the thrify gifts thread, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2940122 i have just been made redundant and back on income support, so I am going to continue with this to earn a little extra income
  • delivering local free newspaper(if you have one)?
  • Avon is hard work for little reward unless you have a massive network of friends or neighbours who will buy regularly.

I would try a postcard in the local newsagents for ironing services. You can go and collect the stuff in a car with your daughter, and do it at home (as long as your house would be okay for this, i.e. you don't smoke!)

I used to have a weekly cleaner and I have to say I'm not sure I'd have been happy about her bringing a toddler along with her, who could potentially run around and break my things.
