Not sure if this is the right forum, if its no could someone move it please.
As I'm sure most people remember, a few years ago kitchen appliances like kettles used to come without the plug attached, you had to do it yourself. Watchdog ran a peice on it and as a result forced a change in the law which meant all appliances had to come with the plug already attached.
My question is, can anyone tell me when this came into effect? A link to the info would be great, its to settle an argument! Much appreciated!

Fitted plug provisions. What are the requirements?
- From 1 February 1995 manufactures and importers (known as "first suppliers") who supply domestic electrical appliances listed below must ensure the appliance is correctly fitted with:
- an appropriately fused and approved standard plug or
- an approved conversion plug where the appliance has a non-UK plug complying with IEC 884.1:1987 (Europlug).
Hope it settles your issue.
I have nothing better to do!!!!
