Credit Card PPI Reclaim Hastle

Hi All,
Only my 2nd post so would appreciate any help given.
I've recently tried to get account details & t+c's from various companies with the view to reclaiming ppi.

I tried the template on this site and sent a £1 cheque with each letter, each letter was returned saying that because the account was closed ( all within the last 2 years ) they could not provide any info to me.

I am now looking at requesting a full Data Pretection request at £10 a shot.

Is this worth doing and do they have a set time limit to comply?

Thanks in advance.

  • There is a 40 day time limit for complying with a data subject access request.

I am not sure how it would help you, though. If you had PPI you do not need a DSAR to complain. If you did not have it then the firm has no case to answer.

Why not write and say you believe you had PPI and why you think it was missold.

If they write back and say you didn't have it then at least you have saved £10.
  • Hi Magpie,

    Thanks for the reply,

The problem I have is that I know I had PPI on most of the old accounts I am chasing and I believe that it was mis sold due to my circumstances at the time.

I have no account details or numbers though, that is the reason for the DSAR, all I have is the last 4 digits of the account numbers, when I started the card and when it ended, all from my credit report but when I sent this info to the companies they all said that because the accounts where closed they no longer held any information?

I'm not sure if this is true or not??

I successfully reclaimed against Welcome for a loan and had to use a DSAR to get the relevant information from them.

i'm a bit lost to be honest.
