Has anyone managed to exchange Delta skymiles for gift cards whilst in the USA?
I am waiting for a reply from Delta, who only appear to allow US citizens to buy gift cards with miles. I think if this is the case, what is the point of having a membership to Delta when you cannot trade the miles earnt, because of your location?
I am staying in the US for nearly 4 weeks and would have liked to have bought some gift cards when I am there.
Has anyone done this whilst visiting the USA?

As a frequent Delta flyer (returned yesterday from a flight home with my other half and little girl using airmiles) I wasn't aware that you could get gift cards with airmiles. I've taken a look on the skymiles website and can't find any wither. What cards can you get?
If you have miles and can't use them then I'm open for you to transfer them to me. I would pay for them obviously.0 -
I am waiting for Delta's response, butI have searched the internet on sites like ehow, fatwallet etc. And admit the posts are old, but they are saying retail store like Old Navy, Bananna Republic, Macy's. Also a few eating gift cards like Olive Garden, Arby's, Red Lobster.
It maybe that they have changed the format, and I am sure I will get a long reply from Delta, explaining this. But I just wondered, apart from using towards flights, you can use miles to purchase goods from Delta, the catch is that, because we are in the UK, they will not ship, and you get an error msg when you try to order goods?0 -
If you haven't already, the Delta forum at Flyertalk would be a good place to search/ask.0

But, when you try to redeem -
We're sorry but you are not currently eligible to add the requested item to your Shopping Cart. Please select the Continue Shopping button below to view all available redemption items.
Seems it's not really available any more as searches for "ruth" and "Chris" come up empty0 -
Could be right, if I get anything from Delta, I will post it. Still waiting for a response.0
