When BT tell me of the price hike I plan to switch to another provider (Sky)

Can I keep my current house number when I switch to Sky?

I get Sky TV at the moment, so will I need to pay a connection chrge to get phone/broadband with them?

Yes you can keep your present number.
But don't bother unless you can get Sky LLU service, Sky Connect is just a resold BT Wholesale service.
Bear in mind that all the other providers will shortly increase their line rental charge to follow BT's increase though.

Sky LLU service, what is that? I was going to go with Talktalk, but in the past they have been crap. All I hear is negative comments regarding them. BT is a nightmare when needing to phone them, can never understand them !

Local Loop Unbundled. As opposed to Connect, which is a non-LLU service.
Do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com to find the available LLU providers on your exchange.

Don't forget to sign up via a cashback site. Currently £70 for existing customers adding broadband.
