Can't afford to pay car insurance this month

Good evening everyone.

I'll keep this as short as possible:

I pay my ADMIRAL car insurance monthly, but this month I'm really down on my finances, however I'm about to start a new job which will get me out of my financial worries quite quickly.

Anyway, I had difficulties last month and spoke to a very pleasant lady who said that that she could postpone the payment until the end of the month (August - which I have now paid) but I will still have to pay Septembers' on the originally agreed date which is always on the 4th.
She warned though that this was the only time they could do it though and if I can't pay them next time, the policy will be cancelled and I'll have to pay the remainder off in full.

Guess what, I can't pay it this month either...
Now I'm panicking because I actually use my car in work, and being a car owner is a pre-requisite in my job so I'm in a vicious circle for now.

Surely some of you have been in this situation before? I just really don't know what to do. I really don't.

Advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think you are going to have to find the money somehow if you need the car for work. Can you borrow off a friend? sell something?

borrow the installment, even if from a payday loan if its only short term. Avoid getting your policy cancelled at all costs
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

As advised, whatever you do, don't end up getting your policy cancelled - this will mean you having to declare this to all new insurers, meaning no mainstream insurer will want you, and you will have to go to specialist (in difficult cases) insurers who will be expensive.

Can you not approach your employer for an advance?
  • you may need a payday loan. The 4th is on a Sunday so there's a chance the payment will be made tomorrow which means you need the money in the bank asap.

Although, they may write to you and advise that the money couldn't be taken and you have to pay within x time.

.......or maybe see if your bank will extend/set up a temporary o/d for you tomorrow to cover the dd coming out ????
  • Overdraft? Credit Cards? Friends/Family? Pay advance from work? Spare change jar?

You do not want to have them cancel insurance!

I would also avoid pay day loans unless there is no other option - although paying the insurance is obviously the priority.

Have you tried to talk to them regarding getting a few days breathing room, you may get lucky!

part of the problem with a lot of available options is that the DD date is Sunday 4th, so it may come out tomorrow. If they need to borrow £50 for a week till they can do one of the other options then a pay day loan will cost a tenner in interest... Which isn't too bad if it stops insurance getting cancelled.

Have you got any old phones/MP3 players/DVDs/CDs/cameras/game consoles/cartridges/anything else that you could take to cashconvertors or similar?

Have you got a credit card you could withdraw cash on? And repay it after you are paid?
