    Hey Gemma,

    What about these people:
    GRESHAM FINANCIAL SERVICES LTD
    4 The Maltings
    Roydon Road
    Stanstead Abbotts
    Hertfordshire
    SG12 8HG
    T: 01920 872400
    F: 01920 871623
Maybe worth just phoning and ask to discuss an account you think you might have with them - think they have a debt collection department but it seems to be for commercial stuff.

Look at this article too http://www.csaconsumers-uk.com/consumer-news/9/statement

Good luck! Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks - I did see this company online but you're right it does seem commercial and the thing on my credit report says 'Unsecured Loan' and it's only for £110! Only taken out in June too so very recent.
  • I was contacted by a loan company at my work stating that i had taken a loan out with a 5000% apr and they I had missed the payment. I informed them that i had never heard of them nore taken out a loan. they then told me the address i had given which i didnt recognise and have never lived at. I contacted the police and got a crime reference number. i then phoned them back and told them that i had reported it and that they are the victim of the crime if they have been decieved through falce representation then they should contact the police and report it. I have ordered my credit report to check what the damage might be.

I can't seem to find any info on what my rights are what the legal obligations of a loan company are and how things will proceed, once you dispute a loan if someone else pretended to be you to get it.

    what more should be done?

    Thanks

I want to update this to say I have now found out what it is. I took out my home insurance through Barclays in June, and did the monthly payment option as it was 0% APR anyway. This is displayed on my credit report as a loan. The insurer of Barclays Home Insurance is Gresham Insurance Limited.

Panic over, I can breath a sigh of relief.

Thanks for this info - I too have just spotted the same inside my credit report and wondered what on earth it was.

I can't say I'm impressed that my home insurance is showing as an 'unsecured loan' - I am going to raise a complaint about this.

I was alarmed for just a moment when I saw this BUT I did know that GRESHAM was Barclays Insurance and so quickly put 2 and 2 together.

Mind you, I did ask if they report this 'credit agreement' to the CRA's a few months ago and they said NO!!!

Of course, showing as a personal loan is fine with me as this is apparently a very good way to demonstrate excellent credit management.

It might be good for you (if you haven't got other lines of credit running) but I already have a loan in place. TOO MANY loans (or credit cards) on your account, and certain lenders will not touch you with a bargepole, no matter how good your rating is.

I fail to see how it's a good thing for a loan to be registered on my credit report, when in fact it's just 12 months home insurance with Barclays.
It's a good job that my car and other insurances aren't showing as the same isn't it?

Anyhow, I contacted Noddle, and had the entry removed.

  • I have a Gresham credit agreement now as my Barclays home insurance converted to this method last June. I am really annoyed. Having watched Martin on a TV show tonight I explored lowering my insurance premium. I currently pay £90 p.m and direct line have quoted me £25 pm for the same. I have a feeling the credit agreement will now lock me into the Barclays policy for another 6 months until it runs out. Am i correct?

Thank you for posting this, I just logged into my Noodle account and found the same thing, and neatly had a heat attack because I had no idea what it was! Ugh!
  • The same thing happened to me, it turns out that Gresham are the underwriters to the Barclays Bank home insurance company. I rang the bank worrying that someone had taken a loan out 2 years ago in my name and it turns out this was when I opened the insurance account. I first noticed this when doing a credit check.
When challenging Barclays on why Gresham comes up on a credit check as a loan they stated that it is because they are "loaning the money for the year"!! Totally ridiculous when pet insurance, car insurance, life assurance etc comes under a direct debit on your bank account and not as a loan.
My panic is now over, hopefully someone will read this and prevent their own worries.
I did inform Barclays that they should inform their future customers about this to prevent the same worries- they seemed less than concerned about the whole thing- very disappointing!
