We are stopping over at Changi on the way to Australia and wondered what the prices were like in their duty free (or whatever you want to call it). Years since we have been there.
We want to take a good bottle of Whisky and Vodka to friends and wondered if the best deal would be found there or Heathrow.
Thanks

I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but I have been caught out by the Duty Free trap when flying back to the UK via the EU.
The "trap" was that we changed in Amsterdam, we weren't allowed to carry liquids through security, even though it had been purchased in Duty Free in Beijing and it had to be surrendered to security.
Based on that, I would purchase in Changi and not Heathrow.0 -
Never bought booze there it always looked expensive (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but no duty free tobacco at Changi (good!) when going in to Singapore. Not talking about transit passengers - I don't know.
"You cannot buy cigarettes on the way in to Singapore though, only on the way out, in fact it is officially illegal to bring cigarettes into Singapore that were bought anywhere. If caught you may well be fined."
You can buy in OZ on the way in (a very popular option)0 -

Yes have seen this but never bothered to look at the prices as OH is not a drinker and I buy wine boxes from Woolies when we are there but wanted to take a couple of nice spirit bottles for our friends.
As the exchange rate between Sterling and Oz Dollar is so bad just wondered about the comparison with LHR and Changi.0 -

As I said it always looked expensive to me but I wasn't looking for

If you're travelling to Australia, you won't be able to buy it in London, it will have to be Changi or Aus itself. Aus duty free prices are pretty good for those of us earning and spending AUS$ but I don't know if they'll be so good for you. I'm afraid I can't give concrete examples as I haven't bought any for a while but I bought OH a fair bit of duty free last time I went back to the UK (bought in Melbourne before I left, picked up on the way back in).0
