I've read up on this and I believe all you need is an 'AC Cable' - the 2 prong cable that comes with your kettle-its exact same as that and you can probably get one for less than a fiver.

However, the PS3 has the new Bluray technology meaning it can play Bluray movies(HD movies) but if you buy the USA console then you'll have to buy Bluray movies from the USA region. because the Bluray movies have different region codes(3 in total) but you can play the any PS3 games on it because theyre totally region free.


Another solution (if you dont trust using the AC Cable) is getting a step-down converter although Im not entirely sure how they work.

Something to be wary of is that a PS3 from america will not be under warranty in this country. Sony Europe will not honour any warranty, and it may be conditions of the warranty in the US that the machine does not get taken abroad.

Bearing in mind the fragility of new systems and the fact that things do go wrong (look at how many 360's were recalled/replaced!) this is definitely something that I would be concerned about.
