I'm shocked that some people are charged for the collection of garden waste, here we have a green wheely which is collected fortnightly free of charge. That said it is your responsibility as the tenants.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

We have a yearly charge for a brown bin for garden waste, I think it's twenty quid. We opt to take stuff to the tip instead though.

How often do you go to the tip? How much does it cost in petrol?

To the OP get a compost pile going in a corner. If you buy a black compost bin it'll be tidy. Costs about £15 through our local council.

I wouldn't put it in the waste - not an 'alternative hippy thing' just not the culture any more is it? Surely recycling what you can is a kind of social responsibility?

Being charged extra for garden waste is hardly into the spirit of encouraging people to recycle though is it?

Not very often, maybe 3/4 times a year. It's less than half a mile away so probably costs about 15p in petrol. The bins are also only collected March through November.

Is that on top of your council tax? Where the heck do you live? We have a huge wheely bin for our green stuff all year round and it's collected every fortnight. Wow remind me not to move to your area.

Or make a compost bin for yourself! Get some old (broken?) planks from a skip and construct a simple square shape in the corner of the garden/yard. No base needed. Cover optional (stops it getting too wet in winter/drying out in summer/ blowing away in autumn!) - a couple more planks with a bit of plastic sheeting will do.

Then just fill with leaves, kitchen waste (NOT meat!) etc and bingo! Soil next year for free to grow tomatoes in!
