  • Oh whoops, guess who forgot she'd unticked the option to automatically roll all bets and got her Rolls Royce trade closed at 4.30pm?

    :o

Closed at 597.4p for a profit of £12.30.
  • Got stopped out on BP - my first spread betting loss.

Mortgage payment day tomorrow :) I've also managed to arrange dentist, hygienist, eye test, contact lens check and car service all on the same day. Normally this would be three trips, so I've saved about 440 miles-worth of diesel :D

Glad to see you've another diary Caz. Would you mind pming me the link to your ebay account please. I assume you still have a link to your shop on there?
We are in the position where we are also having to knuckle down and start some serious money making to get towards our MF target. It is very easy to take your eye off the ball when you've been at it for so long isn't it?
We are off to Florida next year which means £4500 extra to find from our already stretched budget. MiL is paying the first 10K of the holiday for 9 of us so we have to find £400 towards the holiday and then pay for our tickets and stuff.
DH has said that SiL is angling towards getting a biogger hire car. Unfortunately, they are kind of expecting us to go halfs on it. If we get there and decide we need to upgrade then we will but I'm not being done for an extra £400 for a bigger car when it's only to get the luggage to and from the airport. It's going to be more crowded getting to and from the airport in this country as we'll have a taxi driver too!
    Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.
    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.
    2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.
  • Morning all, mortgage payment has been made and I was surprised and delighted to see that Mr Minx had shoved £100 into the offset :) Daily interest is now down to £5.53, the lowest it's been since December 2009 when we briefly hit £5.49.

Kaz, nice to see you again! Will PM you a link. Good luck with finding the Florida money, I know how you feel about losing the impetus.

I was good this morning and turned down a free horse. She's a lovely mare, but she's a bit too big for me and I don't have enough room in the field shelter or enough money to cover her running costs. One is quite expensive enough thank you very much!
  • Good morning everybodypeeps, it's the Friday update.

Non-mortgage debt total is down by a whole £9 (it would have been more, but car rental companies don't accept debit cards it seems), net debt up a little thanks to the bank account always taking a hammering in the first week of the month, so there's not much cash floating around.

On the up side, I closed my Glaxo spread bet this morning 1.9p off my target price for a profit of £56.08 which was a good start to the day :D Just the Vodafone open now, which was £7.50 in profit earlier - going to have to be patient with that one for a while longer. I now have £73.61 sitting in the account, I'm going to wait until it reaches £500 and then I'll start making withdrawals of any winnings after that. I'm far more comfortable trading when the funds are in the account to cover losses immediately and will be sticking to £1 a point until a) I'm out of debt and b) I have six months of living expenses saved up in the offset.
  • Good news, Merlin had his leg scanned yesterday and it looked so normal that the vets said it would be a waste of my money to scan the other one for comparison or x-ray them :) So the vet bill is hopefully going to be smaller than anticipated and he'll be fine from now on. I've got round to cancelling the pet insurance on him and the dogs this morning and have set up a standing order for the equivalent amount to go into my offset account.

I'm also going to get a big sign to go above my desk that reads DO NOT OPEN TRADES ON THE FTSE100!!! I saw it roaring away this morning and jumped in for £1 a point before losing my nerve and getting out for only £3.70 profit. It's just too volatile for someone in my situation.

Time for a bet on the FTSE going down again?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

No idea, staying well clear of it for now :D

It's my Friday update and another £250 has vanished off the gnashers loan, plus £100 and the interest paid off the Post Office card. You know those simulation games where you can set up a situation and then put the game into high speed? Wish I could do that with paying off debt, it's just going SO SLOWLY!

I've been making great strides with the business debt though - at its highest on 16th July it was £13,217.09, I'm now down to £4,760.98, that's £8,456.11 paid off in 3 months. VAT bill due in a couple of weeks though :(
  • Oh dear oh dear oh dear, yesterday was a horrible day. My car was booked in for its 70k service, the garage had quoted £153 and there was £250 in the car servicing pot, so I thought I was sorted.

    WRONG!

Four new tyres, front brake discs and pads and the back brake pads later, plus Mr VAT man wanting his chunk and the total bill was....

    (wait for it....)

EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR POUNDS :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That's an expensive lesson in why I shouldn't drive as fast as I do on single track roads and why I should always remember to take my winter tyres off in summer - the front tyres were less than a year old.

So instead of coming out of the current account, the bill had to go on the Tesco card which is marginally cheaper than the overdraft rate and I'm feeling very down in the dumps at ever paying this lot off. At least it should pass the MOT with flying colours at the beginning of January.

Oh crikey Caz ! Yup, drive slower and swap your tyres over. I expect you're having a lie down now?
