Thank you so much TLDM82 and jwil...feeling much better today
Spent the whole of yesterday wallowing (?sp) at home, think I just needed a day off from the world!! Fighting fit again today.
I think you are right jwil, about not being too hard on myself...after all I am bound to fail if I don't cut myself some slack! I can be bad at not looking after myself sometimes..hoping that'll change once I get into the routine of a 9-5 job
So I guess yesterday was just one of those 'rain' days and now it's time to move back into the sunshine. Just need to get through this last set of nights and then I can focus my energy on my new job.
So in other news....I think OH and I have decided to sell his flat in the new year. We thought we couldn't sell it because when he brought it, it was worth £180,000 and now they are selling for £90,000  But the good news is that he brought it on one of these goverment schemes where you buy a percentage, so he owns 50%. We have found out through a friend that any negative equity, the government takes the shortfall, so if he sold it then the mortgage company will get all their money back. So it means anything he's paid into it in the last 5 years will be lost, but I think this is better than waiting probably 10 years for the price to go back up enough to break even or make any money. Especially as he's now paying rent on the half he doesn't own (which increases every year) so even with renting it out, we still wont be breaking even on it by next year. And then that'll mean we only have 1 mortgage and bills to think about and so will be able to save up money for a deposit on a house really quickly (I hope!). Does this sound sensible to people? Anyways, we're thinking we'll wait till January to do it and it will probably take a long time to sell in this climate. But it's good news when we thought we were stuck with it adn now we're not
Not much other news...manged a NSD yesterday and today will be another
Went slightly over my WW points yesterday (35) but wasn't too bad adn I'm normally ok at sticking to my points when I'm on nights so should be good over the next few days.
Onwards and upwards as they say...£8649.42/£38,314.52 paid - 22.57%0 -
That's great news about the flat. I've no idea whether it is sensible or not? It might be worth asking on the house buying and selling board to double check, but to my mind, if you can't rent it out to cover the mortgage and rent, then it would only be a good thing to let it go and not have the worry about it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". That's a good idea jwil, I will ask on that board.
Quick update then before I head off to work (feeling giddy as it's my last night shift tonight before I start my new job!

16/09/11 - £27  My old boss has just lost her job (long story) so I put £10 into her collection with my old work mates as a leaving present. Spent £10 on postage (don't know whether to include this or not, as technically they've paid for the postage as well?!) and £7 on some food for work and a couple of cleaning bits for the house.

Oh no! is all I can say for the past week...fell completely off track and need to get back on it asap!! Started off ok last week and managed another 2 NSDs but then went completely off track, went to the pub with friends weds night, brought lunch at work thurs and fri, went out for a meal with old work friends fri night, went out for a meal with friends sat night, went into town shopping today and ate lunch out too...total disaster!! Time to re-focus for the week ahead....
Aims for this week:
Hoping to have 5 NSDs this week (mon-fri) which will take me 1 over my target for the month
Back to diet - to stick to 29 WW points every day and no alcohol
Do some exercise!! - I know I am particularly bad at this one, but I aim to do some exercise 3 times this week
Gonna make an extra special effort this week, because I know I feel so much better when I stick to my goals!!
I started my new job last week and I love it so much already!! Ok, love is probably a strong word at the moment. Truth is, I'm stupidly shy and not good around new people and especially with the rubbish experience I had with my last job, it's made me even more anxious, but I'm trying my best to be chatty to people and they all seem really nice, so hopefully they will forgive me of my nerves to start with. What makes it worse is there is another girl who started 3 weeks before me and is sooooooo confident!....makes me look even worse!! But I love it already in the fact that it's exactly what I wanted and I know once I get into it I will really enjoy it...phew! always scary not knowing if you made the right choice about something, but I definitely have
Looking forward to getting paid this week and making some payments towards my debts to keep me motivated!£8649.42/£38,314.52 paid - 22.57%0 -
Glad you are enjoying the job, that's great!
I'm also very shy so know how you feel. Just be yourself and give a big smile, and act like you are confident - it really works. It sounds like you've done all the right things. I bet they all think you are really confident too.
Good luck with the healthy eating and NSDs this week, you can do it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I'm glad that you really like your new job. I'm sure that, in a week or so, you will feel much more settled.
Good luck with your goals for the week

Just coming along to wish you good luck on your journey. Don't worry too much about falling off the wagon this week - its done now. Brush yourself off and start again... Perhaps look at ebay, car booting or the Make £10 a day challenge for a way of making up for the money you spent so you can stay on track... and learn new habits.... Just popping in to update for monday and tuesday...
2 NSDs
1 x exercise session
no alcohol
been healthy eating
definitely back on track and still loving the new job
received a credit card through today so I can do some balance transfers to get 0%...has a credit limit of £6200 on it....makes me think, if I wasn't on MSE, you could easily just spend on that and rack up more debt...so so easy to do! Going to cut up the old credit card once balance transfer is done so that there is no temptation!! Also will be getting £23 from a book I sold on amazon this week so that will go towards my credit card too
Just realised how many smiley faces I have put in this post!!! haha
thanks everyone for all your messages of support....really glad to be back on it with your encouragement!!
