Tax credits drama

Hey guys,

Was wondering if any of you had any advice regarding our issue at the minute.

Me and my wife split up not so long ago for about a month, during the time I had left my wife she phoned tax credits, informed them of the change in circumstance for her and they made her a new single claim, or something like that, we then got back together and phoned back tax credits to say that I moved back in and we needed to make a new claim to update the circumstances and make sure we weren't being overpaid.

Now we received the form on around the 4th of August, filled it in and posted it back on the 6th, my wifes payments stopped (they can do that bit quick enough obviously!) and we were told to wait up to 3 weeks for the new claim to be processed and payments to start again, but it would all be back dated to the 3rd, when we had phoned in the changed of situation. We haven't received any payments since then, phoned tax credits this morning and they have said that they have no record of receiving our form, its being investigated but it could take up to 3 weeks! to look for the form, if its not found then they will send a new one out for us to fill in and then it could take another 3 weeks for payments to start again!

We have paid all the bills with our wages and extended my wifes overdraft to make up for no payments during august, we now have no money left as the £70 pw that we recvd from TC is our weekly shopping money, tax credits are not looking like they'll start again for a long time, possibly 6 bloody weeks! and payday is looking very far away right now.

Its a joke that this is taking so long to sort out, and even worse imo that they have no procedures in place to compensate families when something like this happens, we have no money for the rest of the month and a family of 4 to feed, i have no idea what the hell we're supposed to do here, phoned the tax credits helpline (who were anything but helpful) and they have just told us this crazy timeline of procedures where each individual thing can take upto 3 weeks to process, the overdrafts maxed out, just feelin kinda helpless and was wondering if anyone on here has any idea where we can go from here........the worst is, after all this I wish we'd not even told them about us getting back together, least we'd still have shopping money, apparently honesty doesn't pay in this country though
