i get a lot of stuff from ebay, but only names i know for certain what size i am. Like Topshop and River Island. Avoid cheap shoes at all costs, they usually look cheap and will fall apart quickly!

New Look is a fantatstic shop and A-Wear if there is one near you.

i started a new job in december and had to smarten up (old place let us wear jeans) so i got a couple of cardies from the matalan sale, a pencil skirt reduced to a fiver from new look and a couple of tops reduced in the sale at wallis.

also try primark, peacocks, asda, tescos.

i find my local topshop and dorothy perkins always sem to have a sale rail - got a dress reduced from £38 to £20 and a cardie reduced from £22 to a tenner and they were buy one get one free!

top tip is to get a couple of big cardies - they look good with anything!

Since discovering ebay I never buy anywhere else. shoes, suits, handbags, casual stuff, posh dresses for functions even underwear (new!) now. I've got some fab tailored shirts, gorgeous designer suits, stunning dresses, great accessories.
Maybe I've just been lucky in sellers, but only once in 120 sales have I had a bad experience (item not received) and I nearly always get the goods within 3 days. The condition is always immaculate.

Every now and again I'll do a search eg "blouse 10 jigsaw" and see what there is. And I never bid more than £15. My colleagues think I spend loads on clothes...
  • I tend to pay more to buy clothes that I know I will wear often and will last well, and that will suit for either the office or casual wear. M&S clothes are very good and last for ages! They seem to have some less expensive clothes now than they used to, and I find it's easy to find clothes that fit me well as they cater for a large range of sizes.

Primark (Penneys in Ireland) is good for socks, PJs, and stuff like that, but I find its clothes don't last very long or look as good after a few washes. There are a chain of stores over here called Dunnes (don't know if you get them in the UK!) and they're kind of moderately priced - decent clothes for work and not too expensive. Same for Dorothy Perkins.

I used to buy from charity shops but you can almost buy new for the same price here, and they don't seem to have great selections. I found I was throwing out a lot of stuff I bought from them or giving it back to charity.

Ebay is good for clothes but it's a good idea to check the measurements of the clothes you're interested in before you buy them in case they don't fit.

Clarks is good for shoes, also Ecco - somewhat expensive (even when you get them in a sale) but they're very good quality and last for ages (I've had one pair last around a year easily). I always go for quality over quantity/bargains and I find it works out better for me.
