Need a new Pre-paid debit card !

Has anybody else been informed that their "O2 Money account" is closing in a couple of months??

Such a shame as I loved the card, it is held on many shopping websites without the worry of being scammed more than what's on there!! Loved the text transaction updates too.

NOW I need to find another free issue, free to load and spend card, if it exists. (or is it worth waiting for the o2 replacement offering??)

AND GRR GRR will get all those flaming pre-auth checks when I amend my payment method to another pre-paid card or risk using my bank card.

I got this too. Gutted as it really was the best pre-paid safe card and pretty much free to use. I don't think there is another that gave such good value.

I have a feeling the new "card" might not be a card as they keep going on about stuff to do with "mobiles"....
"features designed to work even better with your mobile"... hmmmmmmmmmm

    Hi All,

We are re-launching O2 Money with a new provider and exciting new functionality. As a result, the current O2 Money service is coming to a close – specifically the Cash Manager and Load & Go cards. We have invested heavily in O2 Money over the last two years and are currently working to migrate customers to the new and improved offering, O2 Wallet.

We’re inviting our current O2 Money customers to register to be part of a trial of O2 Wallet. See http://money.o2.co.uk/changing for more. So watch the space!

    Thanks

But that doesn't answer the question, will we have a card again, or it's all going mobile?

Seems to me like a PR disaster to announce the withdrawal of a service without announcing what is to replace it. All too often "new and improved" offerings prove to be anything but. Tesco claimed much the same when they moved their online savings platform away from NatWest and look how that turned out!

That card looks great! I just use my normal debit/credit cards (the only reward card I've got is the Flybe one but their points are worthless!) but I may switch to using that now.

Free to buy, free to load, free to use and cashback.

And you know when it's "new and improved and super dooper" that there will be some reduced functionality from what is current.... all for the benefit of the customer of course!!

Why do these companies think we still fall for corporate speak!!

When, when, when, will companies realise that when they are asked a question or have a complaint put to them that the surest way to make people go elsewhere is to spew out a meaningless piece of company waffle like the "statement" above !!

If they can't say anything sensible - don't say anything...................

I've been looking for one to take away with me on holiday. The AA one sounds great, till you get to:
    How safe is my money?
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme does not apply to the AA Spend and Earn MasterCard Prepaid Card. No other compensation schemes exist to cover losses claimed in connection with the AA Spend and Earn Card. So, in the event that Newcastle Building Society becomes insolvent, your funds may become valueless and unusable, which means that, as a result, you may lose your money.
So I guess the moral in the story is to not keep it over topped up.

Taking a look at the Post Office one atm. Just trying to find out if they go tits up, do I lose my money there.
