Claims Management Code

Apparently the "Association of Professional Claims Managers" has launched today.

Although many of us are of the view that this is a contradiction in terms, its website is here, its members are listed here and its code of practice is here.

Remember, though, the banks have codes of practice too (and have breached them often enough).

I will be keeping a watching eye on this over the months ahead!

A professional is a member of a vocation founded upon specialised educational training. How can they be professional when they have no qualification requirements?
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • i notice that the code doesn't mention telling the customers that they can do it all fncluding referring to the FOS / FSCS for free!

    funny that!
We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.

Probably like professional footballers - no qualification, no responsibility and vastly overpaid!

Firms so far signed up are:
    • Brunel Franklin
    • Financial Recovery Solutions
    • Gladstone Brookes
    • Synergy Financial Solutions
    • We Claim U Gain
Of course, if they claim you do NOT gain. Either the claim is not upheld (in which case you were not entitled to redress anyway) or it is (in which case you lose because you have to pay them and the remaining redress will be insufficient to cover your losses).

At least one of those firms is on our black list for putting in dodgy complaints.

A veneer of respectability does not remove underlying rot, I suppose. What concerns me is that consumers will be misled. However, hopefully we will be able to guide them to specific breaches.

three of them are on mine!

I received 3 identical complaints yesterday from one of them - template letters, 2 with no ppi.
