Boiler Service advice

We had our boiler serviced yesterday by a guy who has come highly recommended by our neighbours. All was well but he has advised that it is to noisy when the heating is turned on and its powering up. It makes a rattling noise. He did say this was two parts knocking each other, a base board (I think) and something else.

:rotfl:Jesus can you tell I had my pregnant head on and didn't really know what the hell he was going on about. DH was not impressed by my daft explanation. Anyhow the boiler man advised that this could possibly fixed by changing a three way valve. If not this base board may need replacing (?). He has quoted us around the £200 mark inc vat.

If there is anyone out there who can make sense of my waffle and advise if this sounds about right I would appreciate your advice. Next time I am going to write stuff down so I can make more sense :o.
