Has my IPod gone to heaven?

Me and my Ipod touch got caught in the rain last week. It didn't seem too wet, as it had been in my bag during the 5 min heavy downpour I got caught in. I left it to dry over the weekend, but now it won't switch on. I've left it to charge for 24 hours and no sign of life.
Can it be rescued? If so how? Or do I need to buy another one?

The wifes iPhone went into the bath... personally dried and shook it as best as possible then put it in a container full of dry rice in the airing cupboard for 3 days.... came out working perfectly again0

As above, your best bet is the dry rice trick, if that doesn't work then you may have to invest in a new one
You could always try and sell the old on on an auction site (as faulty). You'd be amazed what some people will buy.0 -
Thanks both, its in rice now.0

How old is it? Getting it soaked probably voided the warranty, as there is a moisture detector inside the headphone socket.0

If the above method doesn't work, take it to an apple store and ask for a battery replacement. Should be around 30 pounds and you get a 'new' ipod (may be a refurbished one) if you don't mind having the same ipod model.0

On the plus side, having brought an Ipod back to life after 2 hrs at the bottom of a swimming pool I can vouch for rice, but in a sealed container.
On the minus side, placing it on charge may well have cooked it.The MSE Dictionary
