How much spending money....

Will two of us need for a 1 week holiday in Costa Brava, end of September? It's half board so obviously breakfast and dinner are covered. We don't plan on doing much throughout the week, perhaps a day trip to Barcelona. Any advice on how much to change up?
Thanks in advance

Whenever we go away we always go All Inclusive - but still obviously want some spending money. We take the usual amount we'd spend in a week, so tesco's, petrol, out with the kids. If you are not planning on doing day trips then just take your usual amount, or a little more if you can stretch to it.
If you do want to go on some tour operated trips then I'd suggest an extra 100 or so per person. I'm remembering trips can be 30-40 each or more.0 -
Ok - good plan. I'm thinking £300 for both of us would be more than enough??"When life gives you lemons - sell them on eBay..."0

the cost of living in the costa brava is much the same as in the uk. drinks can be even more expensive. soft drinks in hotels can be anything between €1.50-2.00.
2 drinks per person for 2 people at night time can easily be €15.
on the plus side, a trip by train to barcelona is about €7 each.
take what you can afford to spend, and spend it wisely.0 -
take the train to barcelona yourself much cheaper than the tour operators.0

We never really buy anything on holiday - no souvenirs or anything like that, we will just need water and a snack at lunch. We are half board so (fingers crossed!) the food will be ok. Maybe have one night out for a few drinks??
@ixia - I read to get the train, i'm thinking this is a good (and cheap!) option, thanks :-)
@Jimd-f - 15 euros seems a lot for 2 drinks!!"When life gives you lemons - sell them on eBay..."0 -
If it was me Id take £100 worth and get anymore of out an ATM or pay on credit card.0

what i said was 2 rounds of drinks for 2 people could easily be €15, especially if you go to one of the livelier bars.
it comes down to what you want to do, or where you want to go.
if you are happy to just eat HB and not eat/drink out you will be fine, but if you do eat/drink outside meal times it is not that cheap.
even having a bottle of water in the hotel could cost you €2.
i am just trying to make sure you are aware.spain is not the cheap place it was a few years ago!0 -

I was just a bit shocked! I appreciate your advice, I will take a little bit extra just in case. Being mature students we try to save money where we can ;-)"When life gives you lemons - sell them on eBay..."0 -

We went to Lorrette & were given the above advice - we found that the trip price wasn't much more than the train, so we took the trip. I can't recall how much it was but I was so glad we did.
Barcelona is lovely, but huge! We would never have found our way round to all the places visited on the trip & wouldn't have got all the interesting info the lady on the tour gave us.
Also, two of us going to Benidorm next week & have budgeted £60 per day - we are B & B so I thought £30 for food all day, £20 for drinks (prices are similar to UK) & we're on hols!!! £10 for bus / taxi / bits & pieces - will change half befre we go then see how much more we need as the week goes on - if we have some left it's a bargain.:beer:0
