(1) Thank your lucky stars that they now have their payment and have turned the daily interest clock off.
Myself (unfortunately) making a decision to use Wonga in the past.. When you enter a Payment plan the interest is frozen instantly from when the plan is arranged.
They do state:
However, I missed a payment of the DMP once (lost my card and forget to update the details) *silly me* and after a very apologetic call they let me make a payment and continue the plan with no extra charges..You need to ensure that there are sufficient funds available to cover the payments. If we are unable to collect any of the scheduled payments, your arrangement will be terminated and the full sum plus any accrued ("frozen") interest will become due. This will come to more that the amount that we have agreed to accept in settlement by virtue of this agreement. This offer of settlement is wholly WITHOUT PREJUDICE to our rights in Court should the arrangement not be completed.
I know this isn't amazingly relevant to this post, but hopefully it can help someone!0 -
I borrowed £300 from Wonga.com then became unemployed almost immediately after recieving the loan. After contacting them 2 days before the original due date for repayment and informing them of the situation they immediately set up a repayment plan over 12 months with a monthly repayment of £33, a total payment of only £1 over the original payment, I think the thing is to speak to them before it is in arrears. I hope this helps as i was panicking thinking i was going to end up owing thousands, in the end a 2 minute phonecall was all it took.0

I'd imagine that Wonga would have had to abide by the rules and accept a payment plan through the DMP IF they hadn't had a second debit card on file which they could try. They've already said in their T&Cs that that is what they will do if the first card fails and they have a second card to try.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
