Ive seen a few posts dotted about lately about AVG and slow updates, well I must confess I have never ever had a slow update at all with AVG they come through quick and are always available when a threat is recognised.
So maybe if people are using AVG you may want to double click the AVG Icon and then selct Update Manager then properties and then take out the tick in Do not ask for the update source then click OK then click on update then put the tick in Do not ask for the update source next time but make sure you click on Internet and not folder then tick the top right hand corner red cross to close.

An email I got from them a long while ago stated one of the differences between free and paid for is when there is a new definition file it is purposly delayed on the free software.. i.e when your alerted theres a new update, it has prob been around for a day or even a week but you just don't know![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Thats absolute tosh or you wouldnt get an update every day just now and again.0

I agree. I think if that were the case they would say so on their website to encourage people to buy the full version. Free AVG is fine and had served me well for years.0

You can change the time when the software will attempt an automatic download, it's currently set to 8:00 to 9:59. Most updates will get released during the day, so you will get yesterday's update if you leave the default time setting.
I changed mine to download at 20:00 to 21:59, which means you will auto update 12 hours earlier..."Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect." - Mark Twain0
