hi there,
i am looking for some much needed advice please. my story is basically that i have had a barclays credit card since 1995 where ppi was taken out which i didnt really know about i was 18 at the time. however i have made a claim against barclays to claim the ppi money back however the policy was cancelled in 2003 by myself (which barclays informed me of as i couldnt remember the date it was cancelled). barclays replied to me in june saying that because of the time limits on this policy they wouldnt be able to trace any of the paperwork to confirm how much i had paid. fair enough. then i received a letter on sat to say that they had made a mistake and they would be offering me a full refund of the insurance premium together with interest paid on the premium and also 8% per annum simple interest. then today another letter arrives to say they are offering me a goodwill gesture refund of £500 as they have quoted due to the sale of the policy being so long ago they no longer have any records of the premium that i paid. they have also enclosed an acceptance form which i have to sign and return within 10 days if i agree to their goodwill gesture.
i am unsure if i should accept this offer or if i would be able to take this any further. any advice would be much appreciated thanks.
p.s i have also successfully received approx £900 back for late charges from barclays

You are lucky to get a goodwill gesture of £500. Most providers are just saying you are out of luck if they have destroyed records. So, if you want more, what evidence do you have to show you paid more than that?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
