Gosh I'm tired... trip to the dentist today which cost me the princely sum of £17.50 - good old NHS!

I am a little bit self conscious of my teeth as they are quite yellow and wonky), and next time I go I may enquire about straightening and whitening. I don't expect it will be cheap, but what can you do, I'm not going to grow another set!

Payday in a week - sorely needed as I am about to go overdrawn. Going to be a few tight months with credit card bills from stuff to do with the house, however that will be passed soon.

I am really hoping there is a payrise this month and that I am eligible for it, similarly a bonus. It will be a bit touch and go given me leaving my job in March and then coming back a week later.

    Lovely 5 mile run tonight

Well just a quick post to say I have olympics tickets, a bit of an extravagance I probably can't afford but what the heck, it's about the same as a West End show or a Premiership football game.

    Athletics and Hockey, can't wait!

    I'm shattered!

It's so warm, had a lovely run this evening but boy was it hot.

Anyway I now have a bed and dining room chairs, both bought second hand this weekend. The bed came with a free mattress so once it's set up my house will be complete.

Hopefully not much more house spending needed now.

Got 3 weekends away on the spin now - the Lake District, London for the Olympics and then North Wales. My summer's often seem quite hectic, but fingers crossed for a quieter September and October.

Payday on Wednesday - this will mainly be servicing the overdraft and the credit card bill.

The first £50 standing order came out today, attacking mortgage part 2 @ 4.09%

Just a small token overpayment until I get a lodger in.

Tired from a long weekend in the lake district, fantastic walks and weather. And met up with my old ultrarunning partner, and made a commitment to get back to running ultras together... all in all a lovely time.

Hurrah, bonus is being awarded and I am eligible, only 3 months rather than a full year due to my leaving my job and then coming back.

But it all helps. A few hundred quid will come in very handy this month... I may overpay it just to start attacking that interest.

  • What a lovely day. I'm just off for a run.

I've had a productive day sorting things out in my house.

Paid into the bank some old coins I found left by the previous owner
Dropped off some foreign currency I found at a charity shop.
Birthday present bought for my Mum - 60 on Tuesday.
Changed tariff for gas and electricity to one which will save me £80 / year.
Cooked up a few meals for next week.
Tidied up a few things in the kitchen and the garden,

House is pretty much sorted finally, next stop is the front garden next weekend. Shifted all the soil 2 weeks ago and the paving will be done over the bank holiday.

No overpayments to report yet, but the aim is to get on with that in the Autumn.

  • Just worked out I can save £25 a month on my season ticket by splitting it into 2 season tickets!

Seems like a small amount but with my limited income that's a massive boost. Highly recommend anyone commuting by train tries this!

  • Good find on the ticket splitting - why not commit your £25 per month saving to OPs?

  • I think that will be the plan :-)

I am waiting to see what sort of payrise we get (next month apparently) before deciding whether I can afford to keep saving £200 / month into an investment trust. Chances are I will stopping that and committing a varying amount into overpayments each month cashflow dependent.

  • We currently have a low amount of regular OPs but once the renovations are done our OPs will vary month to month too.
