Hi Sepa, the Ridgeway is great. I usually go on the middle bits between the M40 and the A34, so from Watlington through past Goring. It is lovely up there. Is that your dog on the avatar, I bet it has fun up on the Ridgeway!
Some big news for me, I had an estate agent round to value my place this morning, following the additional work done on the flat. It's now on the market... all very scary but a big step has been taken. In a few months time I will hopefully be living in a house and not a studio flat!
Now about to drive down to Exeter for what I hope is a fairly cheap stag do! Probably the last knees up for a while as my closest friend is off to do a ski season tomorrow, and I will be busy with college work. Still it should be a good opportunity to keep saving away. I might stop my overpayments and just chuck the money in a savings account for now, it may prove useful to keep any spare money in a more liquid form...Mortgage May 2012 - £129k

Hi Ultrarunner, she's actually my mum's dog... lives in Australia, so she's never even heard of the Ridgeway! However on the bright side, she does get to go for regular runs on the beach with my sister.
Her name is Droopy because of the ears. She's a lovely dog, and I just really like the photo of her
I have two cats myself. Lazy creatures, and I don't think they've ever run anywhere in their lives... except to the food bowl!!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

She does look a lovely dog. I miss not having one, part of wanting a house is to possible have a dog, but my job situation would need to change as well. I never thought I was a cat person, but a lot of my friends have cats and I quite like them now...
Well things move quickly sometimes. My flat is now on the market, and the first viewing was this evening. Should get some feedback tomorrow. Impressed so far with the prompt responses of the estate agent and their marketing.
Can't see myself making an overpayment this month, I've paid off my credit card and was also a little bit overdrawn after doing all the improvements, so this month will just be about keeping afloat. I didn't spend too much on the stag do, and gave 2 guys a lift back so got an extra £15 petrol money, I also sold some gig tickets to a friend. Get paid for December very early on the 16th, so Christmas shopping will take place then, together with an overpayment, but not the full £500 this month as I need to keep enough money for 6 weeks! I might be due a bit of commission from work but not sure when it's due to be paid.
And I have a date on Thursday night...Mortgage May 2012 - £129k

Well, I am officially exhausted. Viewings booked for Friday, solicitor contacted, lender has given me a decision in principle. My estate agent handling the selling of my property is trying to get me to commit to an exchange date of late January. Pretty hectic day considering I also had to try and do some work!
Tonight got to - write an assignment due in tomorrow for Uni, prep for a job interview on Wednesday and research the area I'm looking to move to some more.Mortgage May 2012 - £129k

This blog isn't so much about me being a mortgage free wannabe anymore as I'm about to move house... but I may as well keep it on to blog the process, hopefully it will be smooth.
I've looked at a few places this week, and have just made an offer on a property I looked at yesterday. Waiting to see what they come back with. It's a nice property which doesn't require much done to it. We shall see what happens.
Don't think I'll be overpaying my mortgage for some time... this time of year isn't very good for being a moneysaver!Mortgage May 2012 - £129k

Well in a few months time I will owe 128k rather than 68k, that's now how being a MFW is meant to be surely!
The sale of my flat exchanged today, and will complete next Wednesday. I'm about to move in to a friend's spare room for the interim period.
Found a lovely 2 bedroom terrace, with an ensuite and downstairs shower room. Lovely stripped boards and open fires... had my offer accepted and now moving ahead with the sale. Managed to get a 5 year fix at 4.09% for the new mortgage, and the old mortgage will move to base + 2% in September. So for a much larger mortgage my repayment figure will only be about £80 more :-)
Lots to do before I can even think of overpaying, so I will fire up this blog again when I have moved into the new house.
Off to look at a few other blogs for now.Mortgage May 2012 - £129k

Hi Ultrarunner
Just been reading through your diary - though not completely up to speed yet - and just wanted to say good luck with the move - the house sounds gorgeous:T
Looking forward to hearing all about it0 -
Thanks Macgirl.
Currently I am technically mortgage-less as the sale of my flat went through last month. Renting the spare room of my friend's house for £100 / week.
Out of the blue I got called about a job late last month, 20 miles closer to home and better pay and prospects, I went for an interview and got offered the job. Start on Tuesday...
Popped back to the house on Saturday as I am buying some furniture from the seller. Looked just as nice as I remembered it from before. Survey was positive on the house and I should have the legal report next week. Hopefully I will be in for Early May...
