Helpful and accurate Estate Agent

Options
As the post title says I met an Ea today who was helpful and knew what he was talking about. And I was only in there for about a minute!
I was in London for a meeting and unsure of my walking route so popped into an EA to ask directions-I was upfront about my situation-"I'm not here about buying a house but need directions". Good move on my part as I got clear directions, repeated when asked. No charge. And, best of all, a smile.
So, I went on my way, found my destination, and felt a little better about EA's.

They're not all bad. Its just that so many of them are, its best to expect the worst. That way, you can either be impressed that they are good. Or impressed that they managed to do something even worse than that worst you can imagine!

What on earth is this supposed to tell us? Certainly nothing about how this EA acts in a professional capacity.

Just that he was willing and able to spend 60 seconds giving directions that cost him nothing. Hey, for all we know he was a young, horny hetero chap and you a stunning blond (forgive the steriotyping but you know what I mean!).
  • I wondered whether OP was working up to a revelation/plug of the name of this paragon of virtue. (Mother Teresa Property Sales, or whatever).:wink:

And you point is exactly? My 11 year old son could probably give you directions, is always polite to people and is quite a smiley little chap on a good day. Doesn't mean he has the slightest understanding of how to market a property or manage a rental.

    Oh, dear!
    I don't really think I have a point exactly!
It's just that when I went in to the EA and straight away got the directions I needed I was very pleased-and I didn't need to prove that I was proceeable, or see their FA.
I thought, "I'd like to post something about this on MSE when I get home tonight"
Sorry if anyone took me too seriously or didn't share my SOH.

Most EAs I have come across are equally welcoming and helpful. Even if they have no other qualifications, its a prerequisite of the profession that they all graduate from charm school before they start.

The old adage "Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly" is very apt! Its only after the win you over with the nice chat and the willing smile, it can all go rapidly downhill!!!

Unfortunately, I've absolutely no recollection of this paragon of virtue-and he certainly didn't look like Mother Teresa-but if I were in the same area again I would know the office. But he wouldn't remember me!
