Georgian bars - to be or not to be?

I am ordering new plastic windows and cannot decide about georgian bars (http://polegateglazing.com/vertical%20slider%20with%20astrical%20Georgian%20Bars.JPG http://www.blenkinproducts.co.uk/Double-Glazing/Georgian%20Bar%20Glass)
Do you think it is better to have them? Do they add a value to the property?

Where are you getting Georgian bars? They are hard to find. Even a scrap merchant or builders recycling yard will charge a fortune!
But yes, they will add far more value to your property than plastic windows.0 -

I think it's a personal choice, it won't necessarily add value unless it's a georgian house and they're a restoration. The new ones that are dble glazed were on Location Location Location. I absolutely love them, but that's just me. Some people may prefer having the original ones. I don't think it'll add value unless it is a period georgian house.Everything I know, I've learned from Judge Judy.

Is it a georgian property? If yes, then yes. If not, then no.
Window styles can look right in the right property and godawful on the wrong one.0 -
I live in a Barratt house and so everyone in my street has them, they look fine. Our windows would look weird without them because the windows are quite big, bay windows in the living room etc.0

Anything that looks like whatever was there originally will add value.
Anything that's made of plastic, however, will not add value. Looks cheap, and very environmentally unfriendly to produce.0 -
Yes, but these are fake Georgian. On a Georgian house fake windows will reduce the value.
Oh I don't know if it would reduce the value, the fake ones (with the proper sash) are as far as I know made of wood, not pvc. That is if it's the proper fake one's and not the poor reproduction plastic type ones. The restoration georgian windows that are dble glazed can be made of wood, not necessarily pvc.
As for putting them onto a barett home, will it add value? No I don't think so, I think people will only be concerned if its double glazed. Now if it was a Georgian house that would be different because you're restoring it to what it would have had. Barett home? Not so much.Everything I know, I've learned from Judge Judy.

I dislike them.... I like windows to be clear and open .... there's only one type of windows worse than these and those are the diamond shaped ones.... hate those with a passion.0

OP says they are getting new PLASTIC windows, so we're not talking wooden windows here. They haven't mentioned what type of house they have (was someone else talking about a Barratt house).
I think it's just personal preference. Personally I think they look a bit tacky. I suppose if all the neighbouring houses have them it might look out of place to not have.0
