Can LL put up For Sale sign

Can my LL put a For Sale sign on my rented house? I know they want to sell it but I`d rather not have a board on the front of the house.

What's your objection to the sign?

True, but it's not your house is it? Bit unreasonable to ask your landlord to hinder the marketing of his property simply because you don't like the look of the sign.

You think the sign is an issue - wait until LL starts asking for viewings ;)

On the contrary. During the tenancy the tenant has exclusive possession of the property, on this basis I would think that the LL needs permission from his tenant before erecting a sign on the property's ground (legal expert to (dis)confirm).

That said I would agree that this is not a big deal for the tenant...

True, but it IS the OP's home. With rights to exclusive occupation.

I'd say that while undiplomatic, the tenant could demand the sign be removed.

As to rights of access (for viewings or any other reason) see discussion here.

Understood. I suppose I'd see the point if someone woke up one day to find a for sale sign outside their house, mid way through their tenancy period. That would be rough.

On the other hand as long as OP is not served with a s.21 notice his tenancy continues (and in fact it does even if he is served...) irrelevant of the sale of the property.
After all, an investor could be quite happy to purchase a tenanted property.

Where I used to live, there were four flats, each at the corner of the building ... whenever one of the less road-fronting ones was for sale my neighbour would come home to find a For Sale sign erected in her front garden, just because that was the most visible part from the road - and it was HER garden, not communal.
