Please can someone advise so frustrated now, cant upload from phone to pc my pics

Details: SGH-U600 samsung phone. I can upload from pc to phone but not other way around. I installed the software from samsung sight, but when I try to upload pics from phone to my pc I keep getting error messages. UBS device malfunctioned, windows dont recognise it. I got XP windows version. I have given up now really, been trying for a few hours.

Anyone advise?

My friend gave me this phone and its a really nice one, but I just cant upload pics from the phone to my pc. No matter what I do.

When I put cable in at bottom it dont seem to recognise it, yet my other cables it recognises so its not the pc.

Are the pics stored on a card, or internal phone memory, if the former, use a card reader.

check the device is visible in device manager, and check for updates

Just checked device manager, its not even there after installing.

it might not be, does an icon come up near the clock when you plug in?

yes it does, my mate said she gonna give me a card which can put in phone and do it that way instead. as other way will never work.
