My first anniversary

It's a tad over a year now that a friend of mine forwarded me Martin's monthly email. I haven't precisely totted up how much I have since saved with the help of MSE, but it is in the hundreds on items such as insurances, phone bills and purchases of appliances etc. It's amazing how much bang up-to-date information is available on this site, and equally amazing how helpful the folks hanging out on the Chat Forums are.

My main gain from MSE has been in the money-making area however. Initially my gains came from using better savings/ISA accounts, ditching those Premium Bonds that had been rotting away for years, and from learning about stoozing. This has also yielded a few hundred pounds.

One evening, curiosity took the better of me and I finally looked into the Gambling Introductory Loopholes forum, even though I resent any form of gambling and was, frankly, a bit bemused why this subject figures on MSE. I very quickly learnt though that "matched betting" has actually nothing to do with gambling but is a sure-fire way of exploiting free bets offered by all sorts of bookies. Within months, I had not just made hundreds, but several thousands of pounds! The very best savings/investments/stoozing approaches couldn't possibly have yielded me anything like I made from matched betting.

Many thanks to Martin and his team for maintaining such an excellent website and for all the ongoing research and advice. Many thanks also to the friendly folk on the chat forums, keep up the great work!

Well done you! I must confess to be a little wary of starting on matched betting, I keep saying to myself that I will learn about it and investigate further but I haven't plucked up the courage. Your post has made me rethink and I will endeavour to read up on it all again and perhaps give it a go!

I would love to get into matched betting but i just dont have the confidence.
  • Aww Spud and Judi, I'm sure you'd both be fine. I remember being quite terrified the first few times I read through the guide, but I'm glad I persevered and finally took the plunge. There's lots of help on the newbie thread and as Innovate has shown it's something that's certainly worth doing.
