We are the executors of an unoccupied retirement apartment built by McCarthy & Stone who provide building insurance but not contents. Because the apartment is up for sale we have found great difficulty in getting contents insurance, only Saga will quote and even then it's for natural disasters only and not the normal inclusions like theft, flood damage etc.
Hs anyone had a similar experience or suggestions to offer?

I have a similar problem. The current contents insurance provider(direct line) have said they will honour the insurance cover till the end of the 12 month period, after that they say they will look at it but also suggested approaching my own home insurance provider and adding on cover for a second property. I don't know how feasible that is as I haven't done it yet but I hope you might get some useful information as I will also need it fairly soon.0

I'm sure there is a 'second home' insurance scheme out there. Your situation isn't unique.
