Currys Customer Services

Bought my daughter an iPod docking station in January for her birthday (£79.99). Over the weekend it stopped playing sound. The docking station would still charge the iPod, but just wouldn't play any music.

Had a look around the house for the receipt and couldn't find it. So I printed off the bank statement from January as I paid by debit card, as proof of purchase.

Took the docking station back to Currys this afternoon and they swapped it for a brand new one without any problems. Even said 'not sure whats on the shelf go and choose which one you want'. They never had that good a selection though, so ended up just getting the same model, though it does come with a new 12 month guarantee, starting from today.

So would just like to say a big well done to Currys. :T

I did notice the docking station is £20 less now, but didn't have the nerve to ask for the £20 to refunded. :rotfl:

I had the same with Currys last year - my daughters CD player that Santa brought broke in June and refused to play CDs - returned it to Currys with a "letter from Santa" (the reciept!) and took away a much better CD player that should have been £30 more than the one she had, with no extra charge.
Result - one happy daughter, and a very happy customer.

Well done Fergie, far too often people complain about bad customer service while ignoring the good.
  • Same firm, but I had a hard drive fail bought from PC World about 6 months after I bought it. Took the lump in, no packaging, or reciept. Bloke searched for my debit card, found the transaction and replaced it there and then, printing out a new reciept for me (Hitachi Deathstar, worth keeping hold of!) He also told me the drive had reduced from £100 to £80 and credited my account for the difference! Used to hate the DSG group but they really are focussing on customer service lately. I had a Toshiba LCD TV that had a terrible speaker rattle, had a repair but it didn't solve the problem, got a refund (again without receipt on a £500 TV), and a £50 discount on a replacement, bigger plasma. I'd also forgotten to return the remote, saleman told me not to worry about it, so I sold it on eBay for £8!

This post might sound like a lot of exaggerations but believe me its true. I used to hate the DSG group (when testing a faulty printer that sucked multiple pages in, they told me it was fine when they tested it twice with one sheet!), but they really have improved in the last few years. Once they get rid of the 0845 calls, and you can actually speak to your local branch, they would probably be the best in their class.

Yeah, that's why I thought I would share it.

I had already prepared my daughter for it being sent away, to be repaired, but they didn't even try it in the shop, just said go and get a new one.

I had a cheap tv from them couple of years ago, it packed up within 24 hours, took it back and no stock of the first one so got a £20 better one and they didn't charge me the £20 because l complained about having to bring the faulty one back.

    Good for currys!

    Happy moneysaving all.
