Is my washing machine broken?

Sorry if this seems like a daft question!
I have a washing machine that is 2 years old. I'm wondering if the heating element could be broken because my clothes always feel cold when I bring them out of the washer, no matter what temperature I put them on at. The door never feels warm either.
The clothes looks and smell clean and fresh, they just don't feel warm.
Would the washer still work if the heating element was broken? But it would be washing the clothes in cold water?
Just worrying about this as I'm expecting a baby in 5 weeks and am planning on using reuseable nappies so definitely need to make sure they are being washed at the correct temperature!
Thanks in advance,
Mancbird

Has it always been that way? Our machine was bought within the last year or so, and clothes always feel cold when taking them out after as it is a cold-feed machine - does the final rinse with cold water. Yours may be the same?£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit

I'd think the final rinse will be in cold water so not surprising they always finish cool/cold.
If it were me and I was that concerned, why not set the machine on its' hottest wash (90/95 deg C) and then check the door every 5/10 minutes, if the door doesn't get hot at all then seems likely the element has gone. At the risk of pointing out the obvious - this is assuming you can touch the glass bowl which is in contact with the water/laundry, if it's got a plastic cover/plate in front of the bowl then you probably won't feel much temperature change.0
