Hi I have a Advent Roma 2001 laptop which has a built in SD card reader which I use regularly. A day or 2 ago it just stopped working. At first it would make to ping sound when I removed the card but not when I put it in. Now it's not doing either.
I have tried disabling and enabling through device manager. It actually only shows in Device manager when I put the Card in, which I presume means that there is power going to it.
The card works fine in other pc tried it in the desktop so the SD card is not the issue.
Any off you brilliant techie people have any ideas??

Does it show any markings in device manager now?
Have only seen this so far, maybe worth asking there
The Roma 2001 is basically a rebadged ECS I50IL1 (you should see I50IL1 printed on the underside of the laptop)

If it cannot be repaired at a reasonable cost, you could consider using a USB Card Reader
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Camera-Picture-Memory-Reader/dp/B000OH76SI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1314891556&sr=8-3
This is also £6 with delivery

The amazon reviews are useful even if you do not buy it from there
You could get a cheaper one if you get one which only does the cards you will use0 -
Just shows the same as before. Show up in list when card plugged in but not otherwise. no noise when plugged in or out.
Guess i'll have to live without, bit of a pain but at least the desktop still works can always network.:j First mini munchkin due 05/04/2013 :j0
