Quick question regarding someone else changing flight details

Hi there - I have no idea where we stand on this, or whether it is allowed or not or whether we can do anything about it, but wondered if someone may know the answer. We had paid for a return ticket for one of our employees who came over to this country from another, to do this we also had a legal work permit and everything else which was needed. He was due to fly back at the beginning of september. However it seems behind our back, he has been offered another position which is fine, but due to work permit regulations we were going to say no as it may affect him being in the country illegally. However, we received an email today with the details of the flight being changed without our consent, luckily not using our money , however somehow gaining our details behind our back which we are very concerned about. We know this cannot have been done by the person who would have been flying due to language issues and lack of knowledge, however we think it has been done by the person who wanted to employ him. I know there is not probably anything we can do but we are a bit annoyed they were so easily able to change it, and am slightly concerned how they accessed it. I guess I would like to know if
1. we have any come back here
2. whether they were legally allowed to change it as it was done with all our information and under our names.
Sorry to have rambled on - I am pretty sure we are not going to get anywhere, but am pretty upset about how underhandedly it was done, and am now worried about legal and financial implications. We also wonder if the ticket could be changed back.
Many thanks to whoever has managed to follow my random post!

An employee for at least a month ( sorry just re -read I meant to put the beginning of October , not September) , potential issues regarding work permit and being responsible for someone outside our employment yet still in the country but not in relation to the work permit, and possible problems if we ever wanted that person to come and work for us again as imigration look down if you have changed employment in regards to the work permit we have, and leaving the country later than planned. We are also annoyed that they managed to access our details. We realise we will not get anything, and to be honest will probably cut our losses and just not have him back, but we just wanted to have an idea of where we stand as its likely they will come up to us at some point and expect us to just be happy with the situation ( I dont think they are taking the work permit thing seriously).0

If the work permit is transferrable to another employer and not exclusive to you, is there any clause in the employment agreement that covers your losses from the employee or other employer?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Sadly no - this is probably where we will lose out. We will tell imigration that he has left our employment, but will probably mean they will need to sort it out themselves. There are ways around it, but are very difficult and require going abroad and back into the country. I see this is probably a lost cause, and nothing we can do.0

Can't you just cancel the ticket?0

I have always thought that only the lead passenger on any travel arrangements is able to change any part of the travel at all - is that not so?0
