Printer won't take paper. Arrgghhhh

Hi,
I have an HP F2420 printer. About 14 mths old, barely used.
Just put ink in and I'm getting a warning amber light saying machine needs paper, which obviously it does have.
Tried HP solutions who said clean back rollers which I looked at and are immaculate. They also said check print settings which also seem fine. REALLY need to use it today, help?
Thanks

Try switching the printer off, then remove the power lead from the back of the printer, leave for a few minutes. Remove all the paper, connect the power lead, switch the printer on. If the warning lights are off, try to print a page of a document, check the paper feed rollers rotate, if so and it is asking for paper, load one sheet and try a print.

If the paper feed rollers rotate but do not feed the paper, try the thickest paper you have

It says to open the rear panel to check the six paper feed rollers are there

Try using the rear paper sheet feeder
  • Well I tried the unplugging cable and it worked. It printed out the ink align test page perfectly........then I went to print my word document and nothing. All flashing lights have gone but printer is motionless!
    Help!!!!
  • Quick update

So how do I get it to print docments and PDF files???

Just read your update so the print queue is unlikely to apply, although there might be something there on the problem PC. Worth noting about checking the print queue for the future if the printer is unresponsive. So, if it works on another PC then it could be the HP software on the PC which will not print

If you right click the printer in printers and devices, check there is nothing in the print queue, if there is, delete it, then retry the printer.

If there is nothing in the print queue

Enter your version of Windows here

See which downloads are available, download any that are, or that you will need

If they download OK, use Windows control panel to remove the existing versions of the software you just downloaded, restart the PC and install the new software

Make sure you do not remove any which you have but were not able to download

See if it is any different then, the printer may need to be switched off during the install until the installer asks for it to be switched on

If the laptop will scan and print it should print anything if you locate a document you want
  • Got it working via Control Panel.Yay!
