Should I be entitled to a refund?

Quick run-down.

I booked myself and 2 friends for a holiday.

Another friend decided to add on but sorted his flight separatley (Same flight as us), so I just added him onto the accomodation/transfers through Travel Republic.

After agreeing the price I paid it with my card. Upon looking at the invoice I realised I didn't understand what they charged me so called up to get clarification. Around 6pm Thursday, lines close around 8pm.

Woman couldn't explain it to me. Said she's get someone to call me back. (This was the 4th call back I was promised, that I never received)

Next day ringing up and emailing and finally got a response. I said I didn't think the charges were correct and I want a refund. Had someone explained it to me when I first called back, I could have had the payment stopped within 2 hours of me making it.

Now finally, they are telling me the only money they will give me back if I cancel this extra person is the £10 transfer charge. So I have to pay £170 extra for the room.

All the hotel person would have done is pencilled us in one room instead of the original one, so if travel republic would have got themselves together, they could of just rung back and said "cancel that last amendment, keep it as it was originally".

I know I should have been sharper from the beginning but...What do you guys think?

    This.

If you had reservations you should have raised them before booking.
  • Thanks but I already know that. I want to see if I have a leg to stand on with regards to a refund. It was within 24hours?! Or at least it would have been if they called me back as promised.

So you agreed a price before payment . What was that price you agreed to pay before you gave the details of payment. I ask because when i pay for anything i seem to always ask "How much is it ?"

Very unlikely. You agreed a price for a service and paid for it. You have since changed your mind. Why should the company refund you? If you had been charged more than you agreed then you would expect a refund.

  • Thanks antonia, seems to be what they are saying too. Just think that its a case of someone clicking a button an moving us to our previous room, all within 2 hrs...they haven't actually provided any service. Id be fine with an admin fee.
