stainless steel sink advice please

I need a new 1.5 bowl s/steel sink but I've never bought a new one before...some I have looked at are ridiculously flimsy, others are hugely expensive. I have seen one in Howdens (Lamona) for almost £190 which is good quality and another on the BES website which is almost half the price (part no.18343). Unfortunately the BES one doesn't have a whole lot of info on it apart from outer dimensions and that it is made from 0.8mm steel and BES are in Birmingham and I am in Scotland so I can't view it at all
Does anyone know if 0.8mm steel would be 'sturdy'? The flimsy ones I've seen were a bit of a shock and have put me off a bit! I'm reluctant to order a sink I can't have a look at (I'm too far away from BES) and may then have to send back.
Any advice on getting a reasonably priced decent sink would be appreciated, I'm really not sure how to proceed and don't want to waste money or end up with a not so good sink.

I'm not being funny, but Lamona sinks aren't decent.
To get anything that will last you want to be paying £200+ and preferably made by Franke, Blanco or Carron Phoenix.
As a general rule, the cheaper the sink is, the flimsier it is too.If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I'd no idea it was going to be so flippin' expensive! The sink I have just now is some sort of plastic - it was here when we moved in and has now got a huge crack in it and a hole near the taps so we really need to replace it. I am sick of looking at sinks now - it's so demoralising to see that these really flimsy sinks are even being sold to the public. I mean, what use are they? how long will the last I wonder?
I have looked at the Franke ones, my mum has one of those and it seems okay - but there again there are different 'qualities' of those too I guess.

Have you actually lived in a house with a 1.5 bowl sink before? They are pretty much useless IMO.0

You can't go wrong with Franke, they offer a v.long guarantee either 25 yrs or lifetime I think so don't shoot me down if I'm mistaken.0

Would it be worth popping into B&Q, Wickes etc and checking out which sinks they have which u like.., and then shopping around online for better prices for the same make or model.
I love 1.5 sinks too BTW.
But to be honest, whilst u don't want a sink made of silver foil.., unless u are planning to wash and leave to drain a tonne load of bricks every day.., how strong do they have to be? I bought a 1.5 sink online for £85 and its perfectly ok several years later with a perfectly working £20 extending tap lol.0 -
Hi
Could I suggest you look on the Blanco website, this will show the huge range of sinks they do and will also give you a list of Blanco dealers near you. We only sell Blanco and I don't think there is a better value for money sink. They are a proper German company that makes their own sinks in their own German factories (except ceramics, there from the Blanco factory in Turkey!) You won't find Blanco in the national retailers, the really only supply independents.

Blanco are a good shout, so are Franke, Ikea are not.
Do note that Franke do not neccesarily make all their sinks, or even any of them possibly, they just have Franke stamped on them. Certainly it is possible to get the same sink elswhere for less because it does not have Franke stamped on it.
Would agree that it is hard to get a good quality s/s sink for much less than £200.
The cheap ones that you get in Wickes and B&Q and the likes could double as wobble boards, the steel is so thin.0
