Hand rail on stairs

PS no idea when they slipped only that it was december last year apparently. This is the first I have heard about it, and she is claiming the tiles on the step were loose, it was wet and also that there was no hand rail on the left hand side.....!! 2 Tiles were loose (she had chipped them somehow, so effectively banged them loose), but she had not told me because she had broken them and only informed me after the event when I came over for British Gas to service the boiler, it was only then I saw the tiles missing and asked why they were gone. Still no mention of any accident, no texts, no emails, nothing....!!!
Even without the tiles I would point out that the step is still a fully functioning step, they were pure decoration and like I said, fixed as soon as I knew of the damage, and replaced all with indian stone.0 -
What injuries is she claiming to have suffered and what is the evidence to support the claim? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Typical sore back, neck, shoulders......? Not seen any evidence, just that she was leaving the house with her partner and slipped apparently. Nothing to prove it was anything to do with loose tiles other than her word, and I presume her partner will support her. It does state it was wet at the time so she could have slipped anyway, or as I suspect will be making things up, and to be honest she is just trying to "get her own back" having had to pay out for damage she caused, via the TDS. Not seen any medical reports which will need to show what caused her injuries, or any photos, or any evidence that she contacted me to advise of the damage to the tiles etc etc etc. She is trying to sue for lost earning, massage/physio, out of pocket expenses etc etc etc.0

She's a chancer. Most houses have just one as not enough space.
And yes, I have slipped on stairs before and it was my own fault - coming down the stairs too quickly, not paying attention, high heels on etc.
I hate the stairs but would not dream of suing anyone!0 -
For all I know she could have been drunk.....!!! Or never even had a fall, and I would want to see photos of her injuries as she apparently bounced down the stairs on to a brick drive. I would have at least expected some real hard medical evidence with date stamped photos to show her condition.....bruising etc, but that still does not mean it happened, or happened as result of the steps, she could have fallen somewhere else. I know she would lie on oath though because she has before, and been in the news recently over her divorce....!!!0

So it was wet, and really your fault for not being there to put a yellow cone with words "caution wet floor"???? Some people.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I know and now legal action. The steps are outside by the way, but since when am I responsible for the rain or snow or whatever. I really don't get it, but will have to fight her off in court no doubt.0

Was this before or after the alleged accident?
If before, then you would counter-claim on the grounds of contributory negligence, that she had not reported the defect to you.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Not sure about legal requirements but I have never seen a hand rail on both sides of a stair case in a house! Surely that speaks for itself0
