International call re: Sky TV & credit cards.....Purpose of call?

Hmmm........I just had a international call from an Indian call centre:

Do you have Sky TV: Yes
Are you under 75: Yes
Have you applied for a credit card in the last 12 months..........I'm not trying to sell you anything, just answer yes or no: No

..............& he put the phone down!

What would be the purpose of that & could he gain anything from my answers?

Data cleansing? Marketing files need to be tidied up for sales callers, and they sometimes make clarifying calls first.

I got one recently asking the make of my tv, when I said I didn't have a clue, I was told to walk up to it and it would be on the front of it! I then pointed out, that if they had listened to me when I answered the phone, they would have realised that they had phoned an office, strangely they hung up on me without another word!

I got one like that...I told them I was registered with TPS and she asked me what TPS was...I just said it was so that people like them didnt phone me and hung up
