Does registered keeper need to be on insurance??

I own a car, but no longer drive it as my wife and I have separated.

We need to renew the insurance, but I would like to put it in her name only to reduce the cost (I have 5 points). Can i do this if I am the registered keeper?

We don't want to transfer the car into her name as she will sell after Christmas and having 1 owner is better than 2 obviously.

The owner doesnt have to be the same as the policyholder but some insurers chose not to insurer vehicles when the link between the owner and the policyholder is too remote

Many insurers allow the policyholder to be either the owner/keeper or the spouse of the owner/keeper. Is she still your spouse? If so that should be OK.

Technically still my spouse, so hopefully that'll be. Certainly not too remote!

My BF "owns" my car (lives at a different address). The car is insured in my name as I am the main driver with him as a named driver. the car is kept at my address and declared as such but he is noted on the policy as the registered keeper and legal owner. This is with Admiral.
