squirrel / fox proof dustbins

Any advice welcome please. Our plastic dustbins have been severely gnawed by squirrels in the last few years - they have put big holes in them ! We have had to resort to putting house bricks on the lids to stop squirrels & foxes getting inside. So we are planning to buy new bins.

Anybody recently had this problem and found a good size bin that would stand up to the little blighters. We cannot use a wheelie bin so it will have to be a large conventional bin, probably with some kind of lock or clip for the lid.

    A metal dustbin?

They aren't very big compared to wheelie bins but should be harder for the damn rodents to gnaw through.

They sell them in local hardware shops the sort of ones that sell everything.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
