    Well I only know about it, because once upon a time I used to work for a company owned by a Very Rich Foreign Gentleman (he had his own Lear jet) who had four big expensive cars parked at his big expensive Knightsbridge home for his own exclusive use on those occasions he visited the country, and that's what he did.

    So there are real people that do it.

    I've heard of it but never thought anyone really did it.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

    Well you have to be a real person with £500,000 to spare to do it. Which kind of limits things a bit.

    It also exposes the myth of insurance being high because of multi million pound payouts, if you could be expected to cover it for half a million.
    As to saying if they can afford half a million, they can afford more, usually it's all tied up so as not to be a personal fortune, so it's unlikely they'll be forced to sell the (company) Lear Jet.
