BT renewal without consent... primus?

Well I was looking at my bills today and noticed my BT bills had crept up, rang BT and was told that my contract had been renewed as of the 22nd August for a further 12 months.

I had no email or letter telling me my contract was to expire / be renewed in advance and so now I find I am in another 12 month contract.

I was told I could leave for a £35.00 fee.

I mentioned I would be lodging a complaint about this matter and I am looking to leave.

Looking at various threads on Primus tho (who I am considering going to) seems that there are some unhappy bunnies out there who are with them.

So any advice on my BT situation, Primus or recommendations who I could go with for line rental

I am a low call user, use my mobile mainly for calls, so just looking for line rental to keep my o2 BB going....

thanks in advance :o

I moved to Primus £7.99 tele line back in Jan...
Moved house now, this is where the nightmare has started... All done via email, and the useless company dont respond to emails, so as yet, dont have a new line in my property, and no response from Primus customer services, am just left in Limbo.... (kinda like ringing o2 broadband cancellation dept, 35 mins in a queue and still no answer, USELESS!)

So my point on Primus is: If u use for the full 12 months, then its OK....
If moving house, in or out of contract, expect to get nowhere! :(

Why dont you rent your line from o2 seeing you have your bb with them. Line rental is £7-50p a month

In our old house (as of last week), i didnt have Broadband with o2....
I had a service with them, but a traffic shaped data line does not count towards broadband! :):):) haha

o2 offered 9 months line rubbish traffic shaped half attempt at broadband for free plus line rental, then they had a snag on there computers, and now a week later, there retentions line is constantly busy, and no call backs come through...
I get a better service by using morse code to get the news delivered to me than the utter sh!te service that o2 provides.

I'm hoping the Primus move goes ahead within a 14 day window (will go legal if it doesnt) for line rental, and then i'll use sky for there broadband.....
and no, i cant use Sky for there teleline and broadband, as there system wants to charge me £30 more than the advertised amount, but no one can work out why!
    Great fun!

Sorry you have had trouble with o2 but i have had no trouble since i left virgin and went with them with my landline and broadband in april. They kept in touch with me all the way and my broadband was up and running within 2 hours of openreach coming fixing me a new line in. I also have my mobile with o2 have done since bt cellnet and have always been pleased with their services. Hope your primus deal goes ahead . Wouldn't be the same would it if we lived in a perfect world lol. :-)
