Generally, each shop can have its own rules on how it handles its own vouchers..

    Do you have a problem?

Wealdroam, thanks for your reply.I dont really have a problem but i was wondering what the rules were.I had the feeling that it was at the shop's own discretion. I took a voucher into my local Poundstrechers the other day but the manager wouldnt redeem it for me.It wasnt so much the fact that he wouldnt redeem it but moreso that he read the voucher first then went on to try and say that the product i was after wasnt included on the voucher....which it was.
I got the feeling he just couldnt be bothered going to the trouble of sending it away to get his money back on it.
The point is...if this branch of Poundstrechers dont accept vouchers full stop, i am thinking, then why did he bother reading it in the first instance. His whole attitude was nasty and i felt embarrassed in front of other customers.I do suspect he was lying to me so now just for the sake of it i am trying to find out the rules about vouchers and especially Poundstrechers rules on them.
I will add that if i do find out that this branch do accept vouchers i shall be writing a letter of complaint specifically about this manager and his attitude.I am not the first person to comment about him. Thanks again.Wealdroam.
  • Sounds like a bad apple.

Legally shops have the discretion to sell anything they want and any price they desire (or not) so can refuse all vouchers, 20p pieces etc. They are well within their rights to refuse to accept vouchers.

I'd still complain because it sounds like the way you were treated was poor and I am sure those further up the chain would be interested especially if he has been complained about before.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
