New car tyre help

Hi there, it's that time again where I need some new tyres and I have found the set I want. Uniroyal rainsport 2, to fit a 2004 Clio.
Now with my moneysaving head on, I can get these in the same size as the standard alloys in 185/55/15 for around £54 each delivered, however, if I changed the size to 195/50/15 they come in at £41 each delivered, meaning an overall saving of around £50.
Looking on rolling radius website the speedo will be out by around 1%, which is a negliable difference, and the actual rolling radius will differ slightly, my main worry though is will this tyre size actually fit my car without rubbing?
I'm almost certain they will, just after a bit of advice before I hit the order button! Thanks in advance

First thing to check is are they a size that the manufactures supports on the vehicle, check the handbook book.
My car came with 215/50/17 but 225/45/17 are an allowed size and are cheaper and more widely available. And don't forget to check the speed and load ratings.0 -
As IZ says check it's an approved size otherwise it's a mod and insurance will likely sting you for more than the price difference.
Excellent tyre choice though.0 -
Thanks, the speed and load ratings would be the same as what's already on there, however looking through the handbook there aren't any tyre sizes listed aside from the standard.
Also, not that I want to, but if I look to put a set of aftermarket alloys on fro
using their vehicle searchbars, the tyre size for a new set of alloys always defaults to 195/50/15.
This would assume that this is the best size for the vehicle, as the alloy size is still 6j like the standards so the actual alloy is no different between the original, and aftermarket0 -
they will fit fine with standard wheels a way to be sure is have a look an see what sizes are used on your model0
