Redundant and Pregnant

Can anyone advice.

I am 25 weeks pregnant. I was told yesterday that I will be made redundant around the 20th September which I will then be 28 week pregnant. (I am due 13 December 2011) I have been working for the company since November 2009. I work 16 hours a week and only get paid £7.00p/h. I claim working tax credits.

I believe the company will have to pay me SMP and I will have to start maternity when I am 29 weeks pregnant and I will only receive 90% of my wage which is only £100 a week? I am short of one week so my question is would I lose Working Tax Credit because I am being made redundant? Or would I lose working tax credit because I will be short of one week before having to go on maternity? Hope that makes sense.

  • If you don't have a job you're not entitled to working tax credit from the date the job ends, unless you have an employed or self employed partner who can claim instead. If you already have a child, you can still get child tax credit after your job ends.
