Bought 'total protection' online from mcafee a week ago. unfortunately it blocked internet access on my computers.
To try to get this sorted I contacted mcafee and gave their techs remote access to my computer. however after tryign on-off for 4 days even they gave up.
I removed mcafee and was straight back on line.
On their website mcafee advertise 30 day money-back. when I mentioned this mcafee said I would have to contact a company called digitalriver for a refund (even though I bought the software off mcafee's website and the receipt i was emailed came from mcafee). I kept on the mcafee rep saying that they should be able to refund direct, but he stood his ground and refused.
I have contacted digitalriver by email but they have not replied yet. I have a telephone number for them but it is premium rate and after 10 minutes of waiting I had to give up.
any advise would be very much appreciated.
thanks is advance x

did you use Paypal or credit card to pay. Either way I would raise the matter with them as well.0

When did you send it? Wasn't it only yesterday you said you had applied for a refund? Give them chance to reply.
Digital River will have handled the transaction for the software purchase, so they will handle any refunds - not Mcafee.0 -
yes, it was only yesterday. i guess I am being a little impatient.....but you know how it is
i paid by debit card.
hopefully I will receive a refund within a few days.
i still think it is a bit dodgy of mcafee putting on their website that they give 30 days money back when infact 'they' dont. you have to chase up a different firm.
anyhow, thanks for replies. much appreciatedfind a deal....pass it on :beer:0 -
http://home.mcafee.com/Root/AboutUs.aspx?id=privacyDigital River is a third-party vendor providing e-commerce solutions for McAfee's online stores.
Digital River handle the financial transactions for many software companies (including MS)
Both companies are reputable & legit. You *shouldn't* have any problem with them honouring the refund so long as the t&c's of the refund are met.0 -
You've already registered your intent to gain a refund (keep the proof), so let the process play out. You'll get the refund one way or another.
If you don't get anywhere say by next week, it might be a good idea to write a physical letter to the McAfee head office - doing it this way means that a refund will eventually find it's way to you.
You can spend a lot of money getting nowhere on the premium lines, and the online chat support is fairly poor for this type of thing from experience. Easier to send a letter and forget about it.0 -
I had problems with Mcafee locking up my system 2/3 years back. Even though I had purchased of the shelf from a retailer they did recompense me and I did get a call from the "states" to thoroughly talk the through the problem.
As a PP has said digital river are the reseller and will be the ones to resolve in the first instance."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Digital river got in touch this morning to assure me that a refund will be in my bank in 5 to 7 days. Quite impressed with their customer services, not so with the chap I got from mcafee the other day. but hey-ho (as my old nan used to say) result is a good onefind a deal....pass it on :beer:0
