I am going to look like a scammer..

Options
I have had loads of parcels turn up today after the bank holiday and my goodness there's problems with them all bar one..Most described as in brilliant condition but are actually very, very well worn - e.g. ripped/marked. One package as a different item (same type but not the same one) as in the photo.

I also bought some new mailing bags as last ones I bought (from a great seller I buy from a lot) smelled of smoke; they're refunding me so bought from another seller, again a good one I have bought these bags from before..they too smell of smoke :(. I know they can sometimes but it means I can't use them - any idea where I can be sure they won't smell of smoke?

And one item I won ages ago doesn't seem to have turned up!

Why do I spend ages and ages agonising over tiny, tiny imperfections in my listings (I list most as used even though they haven't been) yet I buy a load of stuff listed as excellent quality, and they're not.

And to top it off, most of it is not worth returning because of item cost/postage, unless the seller pays return postage.

I am clearly going to look like a scam merchant.

Re the bags, if you want non smelling buy coloured ones (not grey/black/olive green). They use non recycled film in them so they don't smell like the 3 I mentioned do.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard people say the grey ones smell but I bought loads from this seller in the past and they were great. They're a decent seller I think though so hopefully that one will be OK.

Am very disappointed with my buys today I have to say, I had about 12 turn up and only 2 really were as described - one brand new in the box so it had to be, and the other, randomly, wrapped in a surgical examination gloves box!!

This is, tbh, why I stopped buying in a lot of categories on eBay. I very seldom buy clothing that isn't from a professional seller (who have more incentive not to misdescribe their items than someone just selling their used stuff) and never now buy electric or electronic items.

Over the past months I've either only bought stuff I can't get elsewhere (not many places where you can get ready-cut patchwork squares, or not that I know of anyway) or media items which very little can go wrong with.

(((Chick))) - I hope it gets better. I'm sure you're a decent seller though - as long as you know what you don't like as a buyer, then that all feeds back into your selling.

Yep its all to do with if the film used is virgin or recycled..they use vigin for the colours and recycled for the grey/black/dark olive.
I personally use the neon green ones as I feel they are less likely to be lost the brighter they are lol..probably not true but makes me feel better :o

Oh thanks for the nice words - my health is bad just now so it all seemed a bit much yesterday. Main problem is I buy a lot of things on ebay to sell on (so perhaps it's my fault for being greedy?!) and it hugely affects the price if the condition isn't as stated. I suppose part of that is the risk you take though.

Still it's irritating! I find myself buying things that are described as new, yet listing them as used with several faults listed. GRRR.

This is why I stopped buying second hand on ebay as well (particularly clothes!) - my last purchase was a pair of jeans which were described as new without tags but had obviously been worn - there were dirty creases at the legs.
As for the mailing bag I always use peel and seal clear plastic packing bags to protect the items inside the bags - they look professional and keep any smells at bay!

My only problem with clothes has been one suit that was sold as new & turned up dirty & used, the seller denied that it had been worn & said the usual, must have happened in the post.
I did tell her that I wished my postie wouldn't open parcels, pop home with them get the neck ingrained with filth, hitch out the fabric in several places & feed the whole county home fried bacon & chips & then re-seal & deliver a stinking nasty suit to me.
A couple of large business sellers sold me crap when I first started on ebay years ago.
Other than that I don't think that I've had a problem & I buy virtually all my clothes on ebay, unless I find something in a CS.
