British Gas Sent The Heavies Round...

Options
Hi

I have just had a burly chap knocking on my door on behalf of British Gas asking for money for 'outstanding debts'. This was totally out of order as my 'outstanding debts' with them have been included in my bankrutcy so I don't actually 'owe' them anything and they know all of this. Putting that aside though they only asked for this money a week ago, god 7 days have passed, thats all and they've come knocking!!

I sent the man on his merry way after explaining the bankruptcy stuff and was straight on the phone firstly to energywatch and then British Gas Customer relations dept to complain there also. May I add that they couldn't apologise enough and that he should never have been sent round.

I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced this?

Ooohh I wonder if I'll get the electric heavies knocking?

My electric company are still hounding me for a debt that was on my Bankruptcy petition back in October!

I wouldn't have thought British gas has doorstep collectors, would have thought they would pass any debts to another company!

Glad you got it sorted though :)

Sometimes there are circumstances when you can't pay your bills you know

Not sure to be honest, all I know is that they are wanting almost 1K from her and are ringing and sending letters almost daily.

Won't be long until she has them on her doorstep!

Apparantly in her old house, she had 2 (??) British Gas accounts running and one is still to be paid :confused:

Obviously there's been a !!!! up somewhere and she is being billed for what she has already used and paid for on her proper account.

That's British Gas' fault, but BC&W are still hounding her!

British gas are useless. My 89 year old grandfather is with them, pays them by cheque everytime they send him a bill. Yesterday he received a letter demanding final payment and adding over £300 to his bill.

He checked his bank statement and the cheque was processed on 18th December but he was still in a state worrying over this letter.

My Dad phoned them and they confirmed that there was no outstanding balance on his account but that still didn't stop them sending a very threatening letter.

This sort of !!!! up shouldn't happen, especially where old people are concerned.
    Matched betting profits since 11/10/06 = £1,554
  • It's always worth complaining to energywatch about them. I have in the past also (i agreed to sign up on the price fix til 2010 scheme but the dim wit on the phone never actually followed it through so i was billed on the higher rate. I spent so much time on the phone complaining to them refusing to pay the bill til they reviewed it on the old prices). Once i mentioned energywatch they were so helpful and i managed to get £100 compensation from them! Not bad eh?

Poor old gramps, these people don't care who they attack.
